February 2020 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

The February Previews catalog arrived on the twenty ninth of January for comics and products that will begin shipping in April of 2020. I will try to point out the new and notable items that I think might interest you. If there’s anything that you’d like, please let me know so I can be sure to have enough copies on hand to fill your requests and subscription orders. Don’t feel obligated to subscribe to a whole series; if you’d just like a copy of the first issue of a new series to try it out, let me know and I’ll be sure to put a copy aside for you. And, especially with DC, if you’d like a particular cover let me know and I’ll do my best to make it happen.

The theme this time is Black History Month so expect a lot of re-listings and new product featuring African American creators as well as historical and biographical non-fiction titles.

There’s lots more in the monthly catalog; more comics and books as well as apparel, cards, statues, toys, imports, etc. that I’m happy to order if you’re interested so feel free to flip through the book next time you’re by the shop!

Each month I try to choose the best offering, and you can see this months’ contenders by noting this symbol ✪♥, but the
Pick of the Month for February has to be ✪♥ADVENTUREMAN #1; with all the gloom and doom, end of the world scenarios and death and destruction that pervades most of the comics these days it’s always refreshing to read anything from Matt Fraction, as the author know how to infuse humor into his books and characters without resorting to bad puns and Keystone Kops type antics and, with the husband/wife team of Terry and Rachel Dodson I’m sure this one will be a blast!

It’s the third of February today, so I apologize for not getting this to you on the first, which is always my goal but rarely the reality. On the first we held a benefit for the Community Food Bank, and Thank You All who participated; we managed to raise $1,125.00 and had a great time doing it but, consequently I’m late with the newsletter. On the twenty second Lance Von Plum will be here to meet you and to introduce you to his comic line which he writes, illustrates and publishes, the eleven issues so far of Planet Bisbee are fun science fiction adventures with lots of silliness, in full color and priced at two to three dollars each. I hope you’ll all come by to show your support. And on the first Saturday in May it will be Free Comic Book Day again and we’ll have half a dozen artists providing free sketches, raffles and a silent auction to raise money for Tucson’s EMERGE Center Against Domestic Violence, so be sure to mark your calendars. And, as always I thank you all for your years of friendship and support for the shop and the benefits; I’m humbled and grateful and look forward to seeing you all!

Peace,

Charlie

Some of the codes and abbreviations that I use are: HC (hard cover), TP (trade paperback), SC (soft cover), GN (graphic novel), OGN(original graphic novel-not a reprint or collection), MMPB (mass market paperbacks), AF (action figure), T/C trading cards, T/S (tee shirt), (to denote a new story or product) and ✪♥ (to denote a product that’s highly recommended.

Besides the monthly Previews catalog there is also an ‘Adult Supplement’ which showcases the ‘adults only’ comics, books and videos. If you are interested in seeing what’s available (and you’re over eighteen) just send me an email and I will send you this month’s adult catalog with images, descriptions and prices.

If you’d prefer not to receive this in the future, please respond with UNSUBSCRIBE; I’m not trying to spam you! I only send this to subscription customers or those who request it. (I won’t be insulted at all if you’d like to discontinue. When I proofread it each month I know first-hand how tedious it can be. Thank you.)
