April 2017 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

The April Previews catalog arrived on Wednesday, March twenty ninth. I will try to point out the new and notable items that I think might interest you. These solicitations are for comics and products that will begin shipping in June of 2017. If there’s anything that you’d like, please try and let me know by the twenty first of this month so I can be sure to have enough copies on hand to fill your requests and subscription orders. (Don’t feel obligated to subscribe to a whole series; if you’d just like a copy of the first issue of a new series to try it out, let me know and I’ll be sure to put a copy aside for you.)

If you’d like to participate or see some images of covers and artwork you can go to www.PreviewsWorld.com
and there are other articles at www.Scoop.PreviewsWorld.com, or you could sign up for the newsletter and maybe win prizes in the weekly giveaways at www.PreviewsWorld.com/subscribe.

Each month I struggle to pick what I think will be the best new comic of the month and it seems more difficult each time as the industry is at the top of its’ game. The second BRIGG’S LAND series from Brian Wood at Dark Horse, Gail Simone’s CROSSWIND and Howard Chaykin’s DIVIDED STATES OF HYSTERIA at Image and
Donnie (God Country) Cates’ BABYTEETH from Aftershock are all serious contenders this month but as I’ve read and re-read the first volume dozens of times I’m most excited for Farel Dalrymple’s POP GUN WAR TP, VOL. 2, which is April’s Pick of the Month.

Saturday, the twenty fifth of March saw the first of the monthly Kid’s Crafts event at the shop where my lovely wife, Stephanie comes by the shop for a couple of hours and teaches kids, ages three and up how to make a different craft. Materials and supplies are provided and this month it was super heroes made of Popsicle sticks, construction paper and googly eyes and the kids helped with the instruction. Next month it will be something special to take home for Mother’s Day so please mark your calendar and come by the last Saturday of the month, April twenty ninth with your little ones and join us!

And, still a month away, May sixth is FREE COMIC BOOK DAY and besides the four free comics everyone will be able to choose from the selection provided there will also be Free Sketches from a bunch of talented and generous artists plus a Silent Auction for original art and collectibles, a One Dollar Raffle to win graphic novels and action figures with all proceeds to benefit the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona so I hope to see you all there so we can show our support. With the demise of Meals on Wheels and other programs to assist the less fortunate, our Food Bank will be working extra hard for the foreseeable future and I’m hoping we can raise a bunch of money for their good work.

And I would like to thank you ALL for your support of the shop, now in it’s new and permanent location at 1421 S. Kolb Road and your support of the quarterly community fund raisers as well as the generous artists who always step up for the cause. I’m eternally grateful for and humbled by your friendship and support. Thank you all. See you soon!

If you are interested in seeing what’s available (and you’re over eighteen) just send me an email and I will send you this month’s adult catalog with images, descriptions and prices.

If you’d prefer not receive this in the future please respond with UNSUBSCRIBE; I’m really not trying to spam you! I only send this to subscription customers or those who request it. (I won’t be insulted at all if you’d like to discontinue. When I proofread it each month I know first hand how tedious it can be.)
